My goal as an artist is to be a visual narrator; a thousand-word purveyor in color and form. Every face has a vast variety of stories to be told. The portraits that intrigue me the most are the ones that move me beyond the dull stares and stiff poses and provoke me to stop, study, and ask questions. They are the ones that make me feel something; I want to know something more of the person behind the eyes. If I can capture an aspect of personhood, a paragraph or even a brief sentence of their life, whether it be joyful, contemplative, silly, or serious in my portraits, I feel I will have done my job in telling a piece of their story.
